The Leaning Tower of Pisa

After our wine tour at Monsanto, we continued driving through the winding hills of Tuscany into Pisa where we toured the Leaning Tour, the Duomo and the churches and dined at a roadside cafe.

On Friday, we were scheduled for a private tour and tasting at the Monsanto Winery in Tuscany. Our hostess, Veronica, led us on a two hour journey through the beautiful estate of the Bianchi family and their extensive wine cellars. We were lucky enough to be there during harvest time and learned how the grapes are harvested, pressed, aged, bottled and labeled. We also learned that the skins and seeds of the grapes are later used for balsamic vinegars and an Italian after dinner liquer called "Grappa"

Tuscany

Thursday we bid goodbye to the beautiful Amalfi coast and headed through the rolling hills of Tuscany. Miles and miles of olive groves and grape vineyards with a scattering of ancient walled cities in between. The scenery was beyond compare!

Capri

On Wednesday, we took a jet boat from Positano to the beautiful island of Capri. Here we toured the island and it's secret grottos, rode the funicular to the top and took in the awesome views. We were treated to GIGANTIC lemons that they use to make their famous lemoncello drink and lunch at a seaside cafe! Beautiful!
